Cycling/ Mountain biking offers an individual the chance to explore the environment at leisure. A bicycle tour in the Himalaya mountains or around wildlife parks is one of the best ways to experience and understand the beauty, diversity and the captivating charm of India.

The cycling trail in the buffer zone of Rajaji National Park, for instance, takes you through vegetation of several distinct zones and various forest types such as sal forests, riverine forests, broad-leaved mixed forests and scrubland.

Good quality mountain bikes are used on the tours. Prior cycling experience is not mandatory but one should be comfortable riding along uneven terrains.

Day 1: Arrive Camp Tusker

Arrive Camp Tusker located near the Rajaji National Park, Haridwar. Camp Tusker located in the verdant surroundings of Rajaji National Park is an ideal nature getaway. At the camp the musical chirping of the birds, the rousing sound of the forest and the relaxed atmosphere take you far away from the hustle of city lives into the rejuvenating lap of nature. Rajaji National Park In 1983, three sanctuaries in the Shivaliks- Chilla, Rajaji and Motichur were merged into a large protected area and were jointly named Rajaji National Park after the famous freedom fighter Lt. Shri Rajagopalachari.

Spread over an area of over 800 sq. kms, the park is a magnificent ecosystem nestled in the Shivalik ranges. With the Ganga River flowing through, the park is the beginning of the vast Indo-Gangetic plains. The park is distinct for its pristine scenic beauty and its rich bio-diversity.This area is the northwestern limit of the Asian elephants. Apart from elephants, the park is home to over 40 species of mammals including tigers, leopards, deer and ghurals and has over 315 species of birds. Upon arrival, camp welcome, orientation talk by the Camp Manager and settle down in the tents. After a short break and a safety briefing we get on to our mountain bikes. We go for an introductory session of biking around a village close to the buffer zone of the Rajaji National Park. The biking trail takes us through a local village, dried river beds and vegetation of several distinct zones such as sal forests, riverine forests, broad-leaved mixed forests and scrubland. We return for tea and snacks. Dinner and overnight stay at Camp Tusker.

Day 2: Cycling on forest trails

Wake up early morning followed by a nature walk in the surrounding areas. Post breakfast, we get on to our bikes and cycle to Bindwasini temple. We ride for 12 kms crossing a couple of streams and hike for 10 minutes to the temple, to get a bird’s eye view of the Rajaji National Park.
The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, an incarnate of Goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva.
After the temple visit, we continue cycling on a jeepable road along the stream. On the way back, we have picnic lunch and spend some time at leisure by a stream. Later, we cycle back to the camp for evening tea and snacks. This is followed by leisure time. Dinner and overnight stay at Camp Tusker.

Day 3:  Cycle Camp Tusker-Himalayan Bear Stream Camp

Morning wake up call followed by an early breakfast. Today we bike 28 Kms along a canal and then on a mountain road past the holy town of Rishikesh from Camp Tusker to Himalayan Bear Stream Camp, tucked away at the foothills of the Himalayas. Surrounded on all sides by towering hills and with a stream flowing through it, Himalayan Bear Stream Camp is the latest addition to the Snow Leopard Adventures array of scenic adventure locales. We arrive for lunch at the camp. Post lunch, relax and enjoy some time at the stream. The more adventurous can try their hand at the artificial climbing wall at the camp. Evening tea and snacks will be followed with Dinner and overnight stay at Himalayan Bear Stream Camp.

Day 4: At Himalayan Bear Stream Camp

Post breakfast, we get on our mountain bikes and cycle to Neelkanth temple. The Neelkanth temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located at 5000 ft. After exploring the temple, we get on to our bikes and return to camp for lunch. Post lunch, depart Himalayan Bear Stream Camp.

Mountain Biking

Good quality mountain bikes are used on the tours. Prior cycling experience is not mandatory but one should be comfortable riding along uneven terrains. For both Mountian Biking & Motor Cycling expeditions , our back-up team including cycle/motor cycle mechanics, safety marshals & camping team will follow the participants in a separate vehicle and look after all the logistics.
